GTA 6 Officially Announced for 2025

GTA 6 finally gets a release date, but only for Xbox and PlayStation
by Tit Krajnik on December 05, 2023

On Monday, December 4, Rockstar Games released an official trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, giving fans a sneak peek into how the game will look. Most importantly, however, the trailer revealed its official release date — 2025!

After years of waiting and rumors, the trailer leaked a day earlier than planned to be publically released. Consequently, this prompted Rockstar to release the trailer before.

The trailer showcases Grand Theft Auto VI taking place at Vice City and Leonida (the broader state of Florida), offering what many expect to be the best GTA game experience thus far.

What to Expect in GTA 6

Rockstar Games previously confirmed that it is working on another GTA game. Still, it wasn't until this week that the developer revealed details surrounding it. The GTA 6 trailer doesn't show much of the gameplay, story, and other essential gameplay elements, just police bodycam footage, a convenience store robbery, numerous vehicles from dirt bikes, a wide variety of cards, quads, airboats and more.

Although intriguingly, one thing that's known from GTA 6 is that the game will feature two protagonists: a male and a female. As per the preview, the woman will be an ex-con, but no information about the man has been revealed.

Moreover, Rockstar Games reportedly spent over $2 billion on the game's development, which is nearly 10x as much as Rockstar spent on GTA 5. While this proves little to nothing, it does suggest that GTA 6 will feature many improvements and new game mechanics.

In a press release, Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser stated that GTA 6 looks to push the limits of what's possible in a "highly immersive, story-driven open-world experience." However, while Rockstar clearly has big plans for GTA 6, the video or press release doesn't reveal much about how this game will offer a better experience than Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013.

Is GTA 6 Set for PC Release?

Whether the next game of the GTA series will come with a PC version isn't a question we thought we would be asking ourselves.  Nowadays, the vast majority of new games have PC releases alongside Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation. However, the trailer that revealed the release date window has no mention of a PC launch, leaving PC gamers wondering whether the 2025 release date will also bring a PC version.

For now, only the two console versions are confirmed to be released in 2025. However, we can be sure that Rockstar will give an official word about GTA on PC and whether it will follow the 2025 release for Xbox and PlayStation.
