Season of Discovery Phase 2 Might Introduce Another Way to Level

What will be your preferred way to level in WoW: SoD Phase 2?
by Tit Krajnik on January 02, 2024

World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 2 doesn’t have a set release date yet, but according to WoW roadmap, it is set to launch after January 11, 2024. Besides raising the level cap, Phase 2 will also introduce a new way to level, according to Blizzard senior game producer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield

With WoW: Season of Discovery Phase 2, which will increase the level cap to 40 right around the corner, players have started strategizing how they’ll level up their characters in the fastest and most efficient way. While some will stick with questing, others will likely pick the more team-oriented method of running dungeons with friends of guild members.

The latter option is the preferred way to level in World of Warcraft, granted questing can be just as efficient for those who prefer a more lone-wolf style of playing. However, these two might not be the only ways to level up from 25 to 40.

WoW: SoD Adds a Third Way of Leveling

Last week, a discussion started on Twitter about the second phase of WoW: Season of Discovery, where players talked about how they plan to level up their characters to 40 and begin completing the next raid – Gnomeregan.

Blizzard senior game producer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield joined the discussion and hinted that he wouldn’t make any assumptions that questing and dungeons will be the only way to level. While Aggrend hasn’t shared more details, experienced WoW players can start speculating what that might mean.

In newer versions of World of Warcraft, players are able to gain experience through crafting, which is one of the possible new systems added to Phase 2. Another, perhaps more exciting, would be leveling through PvP content.

Experience in battlegrounds was added in Wrath of the Lich King and was an excellent way to encourage players to PvP. This system is not present in WoW classic, nor was it added to Season of Discovery. However, considering the popularity of battlegrounds, it makes sense for Blizzard to implement it with Phase 2.

There are other issues Blizzard would have to address. That includes removing the option of premade battleground groups meeting with non-premade opponents and fixing the balancing issues, which made certain classes overpowered in PvP encounters.

WoW: Season of Discovery Phase 2 release date is unclear; however, it was confirmed it will be released after January 11, 2024, and the release of Ruby Sanctum for WotLK servers. The latest possible release date is March 20, but Blizzard will certainly speed up the process.
