What Are Follower Dungeons in World of Warcraft

Explore WoW: Dragonflight dungeons with NPCs, solo or in a party of four
by Tit Krajnik on January 17, 2024

Follower Dungeons are a new, fun, and easy way to explore the World of Warcraft Dragonflight dungeons with an NPC party. Added as a new feature on January 16, the Follower Dungeons are one of many new things that came with the 10.2.5 Patch, Seeds of Renewal.

World of Warcraft has always been a social game that is best enjoyed with a  group of friends. Whether you're farming transmogs, enjoying some world PvP, or completing raids and dungeons together, WoW offers a lot to people who want to party up with others.

However, with WoW: Dragonflight Patch 10.2.5, the game has introduced a new way to do Dragonflight dungeons without the need to find four other players to join the adventure. Follower Dungeons now allow players to enjoy the dungeons alone, with the help of four NPCs.

What Are Follower Dungeons?

Follower Dungeons are dungeons that WoW players can enter with a party of NPCs. The dungeons can be queued by yourself or a party and include all eight starting WoW Dragonflight dungeons - although it doesn't include the Dawn of the Infinite.

The Follower Dungeons are accessible through the dungeon finder and can be queued from level 60 solo or in a party of up to four players, with NPCs filling up the remaining slots.

The new feature has limitations, as it is capped at ten dungeons per day. It's important to note that a Follower Dungeon counts as being started once the instance is formed.

Follower Dungeons Party Members

The idea behind Follower Dungeons is to offer players a way to enjoy WoW dungeons with a party of NPCs, which includes five members, each with its role.

  • Captain Garrick - Protection Paladin (Tank)
  • Crenna Earth-Daughter - Restoration Druid (Healer)
  • Meredy Huntswell - Fire Mage (DPS)
  • Austin Huxworth - Beast Mastery Hunter (DPS)
  • Shuja Grimaxe - Enhancement Shaman (DPS)*

Shuja Grimaxe only serves as a substitute if a DPS player queued is a Mage or a Hunter and will typically not be included in a Follower Dungeon party. The default group will consist of Captain Garrick, Crenna Earth-Daughter, Auston Huxworth, and Meredy Huntswell.

Follower Dungeons Loot

The Follower Dungeons award the same item level loot as normal dungeons, meaning that a level 70 Follower Dungeon will award players 421 item level loot. The loot will scale with the player's level – the same way how it does in normal dungeons.

Moreover, the loot in Follower Dungeons drops at the same rate as in normal dungeons. However, the NPC can't receive it, so any piece that would be awarded to an NPC goes to the player instead.

Follower Dungeons is just one of many new features added to the game with the Seeds of Renewal patch, which also introduced Dragonriding across Azeroth, Azerothian Archives, new character customization, and more.
