Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander Trailer Shows Abilities, Sets Release Date

Fatalities taken straight from The Boys TV show
by Tit Krajnik on May 29, 2024

Earlier this month, a short trailer confirmed Homelander as the next playable character in Mortal Kombat 1. Now, the second trailer has dropped, showcasing Homelander’s abilities and setting the official release date.

After weeks of waiting, Mortal Kombat 1 fans finally got to see more of Homelander’s abilities in a three-minute gameplay trailer that dropped on Wednesday, May 29. Besides revealing glimpses of gameplay, the trailer, most importantly, also gave players the first look into Homelander’s fatalities, which seem to be pulled from The Boys show.

What are Homelander Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities?

The Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander gameplay trailer showed two fatalities, which have been hinted at before in a teaser trailer and some snippets of his gameplay that appeared online. However, to date, the Mortal Kombat 1 have not gotten their hands on full fatalities.

One of the fatalities shows Homelander use an iconic move from a scene from Season 1 of The Boys, which involves Homelander and a plant. However, unlike how the scene played out in the show, the Mortal Kombat 1 fatality plays out slightly differently.

The second fatality was taken from Season 3, Episode 8, where Homelander uses his laser vision to melt his opponent’s head.
One thing missing from the trailer is all of Homelander’s voice lines. While the trailer does include Homelander talking, there’s a lot left to the imagination.

As confirmed in the trailer, however, Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander isn’t voiced by Anthony Starr, despite the fans asking for Starr to voice the character.

When is Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander Release Date?

Besides giving the fans of the franchise a look into Homelander abilities, the Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander gameplay trailer also revealed the release date of the new playable character. As confirmed, Homelander will become playable on June 8 in an early release – for those who own the Kombat Pack. All others will have to wait until June 11, when Homelander becomes purchaseable like other DLC characters.

This drop includes Homelander and Ferra, meaning the final character from the first Kombat Pack will be Takeda.
