Diablo 4 Season 5 Introduces New Consumables

New consumables are already live on PTR
by Tit Krajnik on June 26, 2024

The fifth season of Diablo 4 is set to launch in early August, and with it come new mechanics, features, and new items for players to find. While many of the new things that’ll be introduced with Season 5 remain a mystery, it was recently found that the next season will add new consumables.

New information about Diablo 4 Season 5 dropped earlier this week after the Public Test Realms opened for the players. While much remains unexplored, players have found a new consumable type that appears to offer various boosts to the character when fighting the Infernal Hordes.

New Consumables in Diablo 4 Season 5

Consumables are an item type in Diablo 4, which, when used, provide temporary buffs or replenish resources. These consumables are mainly used when fighting tougher enemies and are usually obtained in chests, crests, or by killing enemies.

Divided by their intended use of replenishing resources or offering buffs, consumables are anything but a new system in RPG games. However, while they’re well known by the players, Diablo 4 Season 5 will introduce several new consumables to aid players on their adventures.

This week, it was revealed that players found new consumables while testing Season 5 on PTR servers. Those include Blackblood, Vitrol, Antipathy, and a Triune Anointment Cache.

These new items will be specific to the Infernal Horde mode, and there are speculations that they will be craftable with the new recipes. The new items, which will increase resistance, random core stat, and DoT (damage over time) damage, will be useable in Infernal Horde mode - a new endgame content for Diablo 4 players.

The Infernal Hordes mode promises to offer a roguelike experience where players will fight waves of enemies. Each wave will last for 90 seconds, and after each wave, the players will get to pick between various modifiers to boost their strength or survivability ahead of the next wave.

Even though the new consumables were revealed, much remains unknown about them. However, some more information should become available by the end of the PTR, which will remain available until July 2.
