by Natalie Collazo on July 02, 2024

The newest free-to-play shooter on Steam by developer NEXON is nearing 200,000 active players a little over two hours after release. The First Descendant went live earlier today, and has garnered many reviews, leading to Mixed reception on the Valve gaming platform.

The Final Descendant is a third-person looter shooter that players can enjoy solo or in co-op with friends. It features various bosses that gamers can fight against, and the spectacular fight sequences make the fact that it's free even more exciting. Although players have mixed feelings about it, according to the reviews, it's still being widely received, with nearly 200,000 active players.

The Final Descendant Goes Live To Thousands of Excited Fans

Developer NEXON is a staple in the gaming industry, with roots dating back to the popular MMORPG Maple Story. Their most recent and arguably most popular release was Dave the Diver, which won several awards the year it launched.

In The Final Descendant, things are a bit different from the sushi diving adventure. There are unique characters, each with varying abilities, for gamers to master. There are also a ton of weapons that players can peruse and position to be their preferred weapon of choice.

Since the game only just went live, a wealth of features are still being added, with many expected to arrive in the coming months. The added excitement of these features, paired with how gorgeous it looks in Unreal Engine 5, gives the impression that players can expect much excitement from the game as the year progresses.
