Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 Introduces New Features

BG3 Patch 7 releases in September
by Tit Krajnik on July 16, 2024

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Larian Studios revealed more information about the upcoming Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7. The update will introduce various massive improvements for the game, including a dynamic split screen and the game's official modding tool.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 is the latest of the series of updates for the widely popular RPG. Since its first release in 2023, the game has received numerous patches and improvements, mainly focusing on fixing bugs and introducing new content.

The latest update will focus less on fixing bugs and more on adding key features to the game, most notably an official modding toolkit.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 New Features

As confirmed by Larian Studios in a Twitter post, Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 will be released in September 2024 and promises to be the biggest update yet.

Among other notable improvements, the patch will add cinematics for new possible darker story paths, offering more evil playthroughs and a "grander finale."

Those who prefer to play BG3 with their friends will also be happy to learn that the update will add a dynamic split-screen mode, allowing players to enjoy the game on the same screen with the option to merge the split screen into a single one when you're near the other player.

This new feature will be accessible from the HUD and within the game settings.

Baldur's Gate 3 Modding Toolkit is Here!

The most notable addition to Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 is the introduction of an official modding toolkit, allowing players to load up the game with a range of new modes or create something new by themselves.

The toolkit will give players everything they need to edit and create new content by modifying and changing:

  • Items
  • Cosmetics
  • Classes and Subclasses
  • Races
  • Dice Skins
  • User interface
  • Quality of live improvements

The modding support in Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 alone makes the update the biggest one to date, offering players endless opportunities to change the game into something new and exciting. And since BG3 won't have DLCs, the modding option is what the game needs to keep it fresh and exciting.

The registration for Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 closed beta is now open and will go live next week, on July 22.
