Hunt: Showdown New Title Leak is Not What it Seems

New title for Hunt: Showdown leaks on ESRB Rating
by Tit Krajnik on July 21, 2024

A new title for a popular FPS title, Hunt: Showdown, named Hunt: Showdown 1896, has supposedly been leaked on ESRB. However, this comes at a time when a significant engine update for the game is expected, leading to some confusion in the community.

The popular PvPvE extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown was released in February 2018 and introduced a unique twist to the extraction FPS genre. Set in the Victorian era, the game sees players hunt monsters using various weapons while fighting off other players.

While the game has been well accepted, many players have recently started expressing their desire for the developers to introduce some much-needed updates. These updates, which are set to launch in August, will include new features and an engine update.

ESRB Leaks New Hunt: Showdown Title

ESRB recently leaked a new Hunt: Showdown title, named Hunt: Showdown  1896. This sparked rumors that a new game is in the works. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 will not be the next installment of Hunt: Showdown but is rather meant to reflect the upcoming engine update, which is set to launch on August 15.

The update will introduce a new engine and technical improvements, including better graphics, new hunters, faster loading speeds, and more. Although not officially confirmed, the official Hunt: Showdown YouTube channel released a short video about Hunt: Showdown 1896, titled “Coming August 15”, the date of the major update.

In the video, an interesting gun sound can be heard, leading the community to speculate that a new gun will be added to the game with the update. This is, as of now, purely speculative.

Hunt: Showdown has recently lost some of its player base, averaging just under 13,000 average monthly players since May. However, with the recent price discounts (up to 30%) and a significant update on the horizon, Crytek is doing everything to introduce the game to a new player base and bring back those who’ve decided to quit.
