Some Bethesda Game Pass Games Getting FPS Boost

Extra good news for Game Pass gamers
by Oliver VanDervoort on March 20, 2021

With the official addition of about 20 Bethesda titles to Xbox Game Pass after the official acquisition of the company by Microsoft, more good news came for the streaming services' users one day later.

At least five of those 20 games are getting a big FPS boost now that they're both on the Xbox Series X/S and part of their new parent company.

Fallout 4, Prey, Dishonored, Fallout 76 and Skyrim are all getting boosts. These FPS hikes will also be up to the player if they want to use them.

New patches for these games take advantage of various tech. The team at Microsoft worked closely with developers to make sure that the gameplay experience for each title was preserved. Of the five, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 do not have the FPS Boost feature automatically enabled. This is because the resolution for each will be lower to meet the higher frame rate. Since players have a choice here, those still looking for a smooth experience need to use the "Manage Game" option to toggle FPS Boost and Auto HDR.
