Team Vitality Signs Call of Duty Mobile Roster

Expect an all-Indian lineup
by Tit Krajnik on March 29, 2021

Team Vitality announced the signing of their inaugural Call of Duty Mobile roster on Friday, March 26. The French esports organization will field an all-Indian roster, previously of S8ul Esports.

Vitality's acquisition of their first-ever CoDM roster comes as a part of the organization's commitment to the esports scene in India. The new team will field known names from the region, including Armaan “Moonscope” Dharni, Akshan "Argon" Madhani, Armaan "Moonscope" Dharni, Priyank "DEATH" Birajdar, Samartha "JOKOs" Ghande, Samruddha "SAMs" Ghade, and Arav "MonK" Narang as their captain.

All players except for SAMs previously played for an Indian esports team S8ul Esports. During their stint with S8ul, MonK and co. made a name for themselves as one of the strongest Indian CodM teams, placing second at the CODM India Cup, where SAMs finished third with Heroes Official.

"Our aim in India was to start an esports team that would have its own unique identity while imbibing core Team Vitality values," said Nicolas Maurer, CEO of Team Vitality.

"We are very happy with the roster as they have the right skills, as well as potential to be no. 1 team, and eagerly look forward to making our mark in a brand-new category. While we will fully support them during every step of their progress, we’re sure tons of additional support for the team will come via our fans – from India and the world over.

The CALL OF DUTY MOBILE team is the first step towards the expansion of our presence beyond Europe, and in line with our vision of conquering the esports world. It’s also a very nice way to resonate with the Vitality history which started with the Call of Duty franchise back in 2013.”

Staying true to their mission of finding new talent, Team Vitality is planning a PAN-Indian Talent Hunt to locate and train young prospects across multiple esports titles they intend to form teams for in the country.

By signing a CoDM team, Vitality now officially field rosters across 10 different esports titles, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League, FIFA, Rainbow Six: Siege, Street Fighter V, Fortnite, F1, Hearthstone, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Their decision to create a CoDM team, however, comes even though Activision have yet to announce any CoDM esports plans for 2021.

In 2020, the video game company intended to host CoDM Championship with a $1 million prize pool, which got cancelled due to COVID-19. While the organizers hope they'll be able to host international tournaments in 2021, it remains to be seen whether the situation with the global pandemic will allow for any major international competitions to take place.
