New Battlefield Announcement Coming In June

Electronic Arts noted that a new Battlefield announcement is coming "soon." The official Twitter account has teased June.

The Battlefield franchise has had its ups and downs, although it's been riding high for the past few years. Electronic Arts, the publisher behind the game, knows that and looks to capitalize on the hype with a recent tease of a new game. The company first noted that a new game in the franchise would be announced "soon." While that naturally prompted speculation, the franchise's official Twitter account has teased June.

As Oskar Gabrielson, the general manager of DICE, the series' developer, noted in a recent blog post:

"Working with more world-class development studios within Electronic Arts, we have our biggest team ever on a Battlefield game for console and PC. Our friends at Criterion and DICE LA are working with us on our shared vision for the game, while the team in Gothenburg is taking technology in the game to the next level. Together, we are creating a jaw-dropping experience for you to enjoy later in 2021."

In the blog post, he noted that players will learn more about the game "soon." The official Battlefield Twitter account subsequently decided to tease June. Whether that will be when more information comes out or if it's a beta or other release remains to be seen. Mr. Gabrielson also teased a mobile game that's already in development. As he noted:

"It’s always been our vision to bring Battlefield to more platforms. So, after years of prototyping, I’m super happy to be able to let you know that our friends at Industrial Toys, working closely with all of us here at DICE, are developing a completely new Battlefield game bringing all-out warfare to smartphones and tablets in 2022."

That doesn't mean that this new title is just going to be a port. Instead, it will be a standalone game that should give players enough content to keep them engaged. Regardless, Battlefield fans will be excited to learn that two installments in the franchise are coming soon.
