Skull And Bones Devs Reportedly Going Back To The Drawing Board

2023 Suddenly Sounding More Realistic Than 2022
by Oliver VanDervoort on May 30, 2021

Time to count the development of Skull and Bones, troubled.

According to a source familiar with inner workings at Ubisoft who has asked not to be identified by Gameluster, the ship combat adventure title had to restart development from scratch a second time just a few months ago.

The company removed the managing director of Ubisoft Singapore, who is overseeing development. That removal is due to the larger company continuing to deal with the fallout of sexual harassment allegations over the last year.

Gameluster said other sources had confirmed that the game had to be brought back to the drawing board, though the two sources weren't able to match up their stories as to exactly why. What was agreed upon is that the game, which was bumped back to a 2021 release date last year, isn't coming this year after all.

Because of the degree of the redesign, it's not really believed that the game will be ready by 2022.

Of course, Ubisoft itself has not come forward with any kind of update on just where the development of Skull and Bones sits, either ahead or behind the times. It's possible an official announcement could be coming at next month's E3.
