Microsoft Donates Xbox to Boys and Girls Club of America

As part of its ongoing support of the Boys & Girls Club Of America, Microsoft is donating a load of Xbox's.

Microsoft has been involved in philantropic efforts for quite some time. Now, it's looking to kill two birds with one stone by supporting the Boys & Girls Club Of America, alongside encouraging COVID-19 vaccination. To do so, it's donating Xbox Series X/S's to club's in communities across the country. These are all based in cities and areas that have been the hardest-hit by the ongoing pandemic.

Outside of that, however, very few details are known. Given how scare the new Xbox consoles are, it's probably best that Microsoft not reveal that information publicly. The donation is part of a White House initiative called the National Month of Action. The program, which began on June 4, looks to get at least 70 percent of Americans vaccinated by July 4.

Other efforts towards this goal have included extended pharmacy hours, free child care for vaccination recipients, and even free beer for vaccinated adults. The donation by the gaming and technology giant is a small part of its going relationship with the Boys & Girls Club Of America. Typically, this support revolves around science education and providing technological resources to students.

As the charity's website notes:

"Microsoft has donated more than $150 million in software, cloud services, cash grants and employee time to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and local Clubs to ensure our youth are future-ready with access to digital skills and computer science education. This support has helped build Club technology centers nationwide, allowed Boys & Girls Clubs of America to develop a suite of computer science programs that build in skill level and supported the launch of the My.Future platform."

While that's a little different than donating Xbox Series X/S', it's still a large effort to help charity and increase vaccination leves. In announcing the news, Xbox said it hopes the donation will "help drive vaccine education in the US," and shared its announcement with a mock 1000G achievement that just reads "vaccinated."
