Stray Delayed Until Early 2022

The Game Where You Play As A Cat Isn't Coming This Year Anymore
by Oliver VanDervoort on July 30, 2021

July has been the month of game delays. Several announcements have been made this month, pushing games that were originally due this year, to 2022 at the very least. That now includes Annapurna's Stray. The video game where players take on the role of an actual cat was due out later in 2021. Now the developer has said that the game won't arrive until early 2021.

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Players will be able to roam surroundings high and low and defend against unforeseen threats. Moreover, they will solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.

Annapurna did not say why Stray got its delay. It's a safe bet the company felt there was some more polish that was needed and more time to do it.

The company also neglected to say when in 2022 Stray would arrive on our doorsteps, though it's expected to be in the first half of the year.
