Marvel's Avengers Still Reportedly Getting Spider-Man In 2021

Despite no news about the web-head in months
by Oliver VanDervoort on August 14, 2021

Those that thought that War for Wakanda would be the last big update for Marvel's Avengers this year, there's hope of another.

Spider-Man is still coming to the game later this year, despite the prolonged silence from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics regarding the character's inclusion in the title. Just prior to the release of the game, Crystal Dynamics revealed it would be adding Spider-Man into Marvel's Avengers as a PlayStation exclusive DLC character sometime in 2021. That said, no other details were shared, so fans have been wondering what the hold-up is.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Marvel's Avengers senior game designer Scott Walters confirmed the wall crawler is still expected to join the game this year. This should ease some worries from fans who were starting to think Spider-Man's appearance in Marvel's Avengers would be delayed to 2022 given the lack of recent info on his inclusion.

"In terms of what we can say now, we've always scheduled and looked to bring Spider-Man out in 2021 for PlayStation owners. That is still on track, so we'll have more announcements later on this year," Walters said.

Of course, that's not as concrete as some would no-doubt like. There's still plenty of time to delay the character and make the Black Panther the big addition for the year.

Square and Crystal Dynamics have been working hard on building up popularity for the game. Launching Spider-Man this year, at least on the PS5 side, would certainly help in those efforts.
