Microsoft's Presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2021 for Xbox

The presentation will be 50 minutes long
by Luke Luby on September 03, 2021

Microsoft will have a showcase at the Tokyo Game Show 2021 later this month. That’s according to a recent update on the event’s website. It’s unclear when this addition was made, but it was recently spotted by Video Game Chronicle. Alongside noting that the company will have a 50-minute showcase, the listing notes that there will be “exclusive news” focused on the Xbox.

As the listing reads:

"Jump in and join Xbox as we bring our gaming ecosystem gaming to the world. We have some exclusive news and content to share and Tokyo Game Show 2021 is our stage."

Like last year’s event, Tokyo Game Show 2021 will take place entirely online. There will be a physical, press-only event at the event’s usual location, Chiba City's Makuhari Messe. The show will take place between September 30 and October 3.

According to the Microsoft listing, there will be an Xbox-focused presentation on September 30. It’ll take place at 6pm local time, so 2am PT/5am ET/10 am BST. The company will be joined by multiple other big names; Capcom, Ubisoft, 505 Games, and Konami are all confirmed to be in attendance.

Most of the developers and publishers are set to provide attendees with a virtual booth experience. There’s also set to be a new matchmaking system. This will allow attendees and exhibitors to arrange private virtual meetings.

The show could be a significant one for Microsoft. Xbox consoles traditionally haven’t sold well in Japan, although that’s changed with the Xbox Series X and S. Stumbles when the original Xbox was released left a negative reputation for the console franchise, alongside its owner. It’s taken years for Microsoft to overcome this.

Whether it can capitalize on this growth at Tokyo Game Show 2021, however, remains unclear. Fans can expect a 50-minute Xbox presentation at the show from 2am PT/5am ET/10 am BST onward.
