Team Vitality Break $1 Million In Rocket League Prize Pool Winnings

The best-paid European Rocket League team
by Tit Krajnik on September 20, 2021

Team Vitality became the first European esports organization to reach the $1,000,000 milestone for total prize pool winnings from Rocket League esports tournaments. The French esports team reached the milestone on Sunday, September 19.

A $1,000,000 Milestone

Team Vitality wrote history this Sunday by becoming the first European Rocket League team to win $1 million in tournament winnings and only the second team in history – following The General NRG. The French esports team reached the historic milestone by placing fourth at WePlay Esports Invitational featuring Rocket League – EMEA, earning $6,000.

With the $6,000, Vitality are now at $1,000,631 total prize pool winnings, which they have achieved over 70 tournaments since the team was formed in February 2018.

Their most lucrative year to date was 2019 when Vitality earned nearly $440,000 from 22 tournaments. That includes $200,000 from winning the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 7- Finals and $120,000 for a runner-up finish at the RLCS Season 8 – Finals.

Vitality continued competing for top spots at some of the biggest Rocket League tournaments into 2020. Even though they haven’t won a single S-Tier event over the year, Vitality have placed second at RLCS Season 9 – Europe and RLCS Season X - Fall: EU Major, for a combined $81,400 in tournament winnings, resulting in a $233,000 total winnings by the end of the year.

So far in 2021, Team Vitality have earned just over $221,000 across 15 tournaments. The biggest chunk of that came from Vitality’s title-winning run at the RLCS Season X - European Championship in June, awarding them with the title of European champions and $160,000 prize share.

Their second-most lucrative tournament of the year was RLCS Season X - Winter: EU Major, where Vitality placed second. For their efforts, the French Rocket League team earned $18,000.

The General NRG Lead the Way

While a historic moment for Vitality, who became the first European Rocket League esports team to win $1 million in total prize pool winnings, they’re still short of North America’s The General NRG. The latter broke the milestone in April when they placed second at RLCS Season X - Spring: Lamborghini Open - NA Regional Event 3 and won $15,000 in tournament winnings.

The General NRG have since added nearly $200,000 in tournament winnings, with back-to-back titles at RLCS Season X - Spring: NA Major ($36,000) and RLCS Season X - North American Championship ($160,000).

With that, The General NRG stand tall as the best-paid Rocket League team in the world, with $1,210,545 in total prize pool winnings. In third are G2 Esports with just under $735,000, while Team Dignitas rank fourth with $666,500 in tournament winnings.

With only a few more tournaments left to be played this year, it’s unlikely for the order of teams to change by much. However, we can expect a shakeup in the all-time earner ladder with the RLCS 2021/22 season, which will introduce over $6 million in tournament winnings across the year, including a $2,000,000 RLCS World Championship, slated for July 2022.
