Fortnite Could Be Blacklisted From The Apple Store For Five Years

Turns out the fight is still going
by Oliver VanDervoort on September 25, 2021

If you thought that Apple and Epic Games were going to kiss and make up after the first lawsuit was over, think again.

Things have been relatively quiet since the two companies had their many days in court, but it appears the fight is firing up again.

Earlier this week, Epic Games' Tim Sweeney took to Twitter to announce that Apple had sent his company a letter. In that letter, Apple informed Epic that Fortnite will be blacklisted from the Apple ecosystem until the exhaustion of all court appeals. Sweeney went on to say that the appeals process could last as long as five years.

Sweeney also posted a picture of the letter and it's pretty clear that there is no love lost between Apple and Epic. One line references some public comments Sweeney has made since the trial.

It seems as if those comments were taken to heart.

With that in mind, it seems as if Sweeney isn't doing himself a ton of favors by taking the letter public. Of course, the Epic Games chief has long thought the best way to go about beating Apple is to take the dispute public. It appears he is hoping that public pressure might make Apple back of its stance.

So far, that hasn't been the case.
