Thunder Predator Part Ways With Dota 2 Roster

Peruvian Dota 2 roster will stick together
by Tit Krajnik on October 17, 2021

Thunder Predator released its entire Dota 2 roster, following the team's disappointing finish of The International 10. The news surfaced on Saturday, October 16, a week after Thunder Predator's elimination from the group stage.

A Disappointing Performance from Thunder Predator

Even though Thunder Predator entered The International 10 with low expectations on their shoulders, the team severely underperformed, even for their standards. The South American representatives finished their chase for the Aegis of Champions in the group stage as the only team of the tournament to lose all eight of their bouts.

Thunder Predator started their quest for the title in Group A, alongside Invictus Gaming, Virtus.pro, OG, T1, Team Undying, Evil Geniuses, Team Aster, and Alliance. Although a stacked group, Thunder Predator were expected to cause at least some damage, which they were unable to do.

Unfortunately, Thunder Predator hasn't won a single map after eight rounds of play. They finished the group stage with a 0-0-8 record, securing the worst record of the tournament across both groups.

It marked the first time since The International 2013 that a team failed to win a single match. The only other team in TI history who managed the same underwhelming record was MUFC, who ended the group stage with a 0-14 record.

Players Decide to Stick Together

Following the team's disappointing run through TI10, Thunder Predator announced that the organization is parting ways with their entire roster. However, Joel Mori "MoOz" Ozambela later confirmed that the players would stick together and either join a new organization or form their own team to compete in 2022.

"Now that days have passed, and emotions are not that much in the way, I would like to say sorry to all the fans for our TI10 performance since we started this team, we all had the same hunger and goal and it's a huge disappointment for us how the things turned out," said MoOz.

"All we have left is to learn for this experience and come back stronger, maintain our determination and hunger because there's plenty of life to be lived and big dreams we want to fulfil."

The former Thunder Predator roster in Alonso "Mnz" León, Leonardo "LeoStyle-" Sifuentes, Frank "Frank" Arias, Romel "Mjz" Quinteros, and MoOz are now free agents, open for offers from other esports organizations. While their future remains unclear, the players will look to stick together for the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season.
