Team Vitality Overhaul CS:GO Roster For 2022 Season

Vitality looking to rebuild for the 2022 season
by Tit Krajnik on November 08, 2021

Team Vitality, the recent PGL Major Stockholm 2021 quarter-finalists, will make changes to its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. As revealed by the recent reports, the French esports organization's 2022 roster will feature former Astralis members in Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Emil "Magisk" Reif, and coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen.

Huge Roster Overhaul On The Cards

Recent reports unveiled that the former no.1 CS:GO team in the world, Team Vitality, are set to make some drastic roster changes ahead of the 2022 season. Starting with the departure of Richard "shox" Papillon, Jayson "Kyojin" Nguyen Van, and coach Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam.

Replacing the trio will be former Astralis members in Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, Emil "Magisk” Reif, and coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen. The Astralis members are set to leave the Danish esports organization at the start of 2022 after their contracts expire.

The reports of a major roster overhaul follow the French squad's disappointing ending to the season. Vitality suffered elimination in the quarter-finals of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 against the tournament favourites, Natus Vincere.

Even at the start of the Major, Vitality failed to impress, going 0-2 in the New Legends Stage and needed a perfect run of three consecutive wins to qualify for the playoffs. Beyond that, the team have been showing shaky performances throughout the year, which ushered in the rumours of a possible roster overhaul.

Shox, Kyojin and XTQZZZ At The Exit Doors

If the roster move comes to fruition, it will mark the end of XTQZZZ's three-year stint with the French esports organization, which he joined as a coach in December 2018. During his stay with Vitality, XTQZZZ has achieved plenty, including titles from EPICENTER 2019, BLAST Premier: Fall 2020, Intel Extreme Masters XV - Beijing Online: Europe, and Esports Championship Series Season 7 – Finals.

Shox, who is the first player who has found himself on the list of potential departees, joined Vitality in September 2019 and has since played a key role in the team's success throughout the years. Out of the three, Kyojin, has been with the team for the least amount of time, having joined Vitality in April to replace the retired Cédric "RpK" Guipouy.

Kyojin has been signed by Vitality amid a difficult time for the French team, from which Vitality has only recently recovered, thanks to strong performance at ESL Pro League Season 14.

Where the trio will land is anyone's guess; however, if the reports are to be trusted, Vitality won't lack talent with their new-look squad. By adding Dupreeh, Magisk, and zonic, Vitality would acquire three former Major champions, who are reportedly on the way out of Astralis after the Danish squad signed Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke, and Alexander "ave" Holdt as a part of their own roster overhaul.

Since the Astralis trio are still contracted with the Danish team, we might need to wait until the end of the year to get an official announcement from Vitality.
