Zyphon Leaves Copenhagen Flames

The final member of Copenhagen Flames flyes the nest
by Tit Krajnik on August 05, 2022

Copenhagen Flames have announced on Thursday, August 4, the departure of Rasmus “Zyphon” Nordfoss. The 18-year-old leaves the Danish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team as the final remaining member of the roster, which effectively disbanded in June

Zyphon’s departure from Copenhagen Flames hardly comes as s surprise as he is the final member of the Danish squad, which went its separate ways during the offseason. The roster disbandment started in June, when Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi and Frederik “roej” Jorgensen left for Fnatic, with more departures from the squad following in the coming weeks.

Just two days after the Danish duo joined the Black & Orange, Copenhagen Flames also parted ways with coach Daniel “Vorbog” Vorbog, who joined Evil Geniuses, with Jakob “Jabbi” Jygaard leaving for Heroic on June 21.

This left Zyphon and Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen as the only two players in Copenhagen Flames, albeit they were both transfer listed – since the departure of roej and nicoodoz.

The roster moves come after Copenhagen Flames attempted to sell the entire team after the organization was unable to provide the necessary support for the up-and-coming roster, which far exceeded the organization.

Copenhagen Flames peaked at no.9 in the global CS:GO rankings and have achieved enviable success over the season, notably placing 11th at PGL Major Stockholm and making it inside the top-eight at PGL Major Antwerp. But despite establishing themselves as one of the most promising CS:GO teams in the scene, the Danish lineup was unable to stick together.

Nevertheless, it seems like all five members have already found a new home. Roej and niccoodoz are both signed to Fnatic, Jabbi has found a new home at Heroic, Vorbog took over as the head coach of Evil Geniuses, while HooXi has been heavily linked with a move to G2 Esports.

As it stands now, Zyphon has yet to unveil where he’ll continue his CS:GO career, but according to his Twitter post, even he has found a new team to represent.
