LoL Worlds gets a new trophy
by Tit Krajnik on August 18, 2022

Riot Games has announced a new multi-year global partnership with Tiffany & Co., which will take over as the official trophy designer of the coveted Summoner's Cup that will be handed out to the champions of the League of Legends World Championship 2022. The new collaboration will make its debut on Monday, August 29.

As announced by Riot on Wednesday, August 17, the company has struck a deal with a famous jewelry brand, Tiffany & Co., marking one of the biggest partnerships in the history of esports. The deal was unveiled just a month ahead of the LoL Worlds 2022 kick-off, which is slated to begin in New Mexico on September 29.

"The Summoner's Cup is a symbol of greatness in esports and the crowning achievement in League of Legends," said Naz Aletaha, Global Head of League of Legends Esports for Riot Games.

"The teams who hoist it represent the best of our sport -- their mastery forever a part of LoL Esports' history. As we looked to build on the prestigiousness of winning a World Championship, there was only one partner we aspired to collaborate with on the Summoner's Cup."

Tiffany & Co. is a storied brand and designer of some of the world's greatest sports trophies, including trophies for the US Open, NBA Finals, NFL Super Bown championship, Major League Baseball, and more. Now, for the first time, Tiffany & Co. will co-create a new Summoner's Cup, dipping its toes in the esports world.

The 2022 LoL Worlds trophy, weighing 44 pounds and will be approximately 27 inches tall, involved a "creative process between LoL Esports and Tiffany & Co." to bring a new, modern design that was brought to life over four months and totaling 277 hours of work.

Tiffany & Co.-built Summoner's Cup will make its debut in this year's LoL World Championship, which has returned to North America for the first time since 2016. The tournament will kick off on September 29 in New Mexico with the play-in stage and culminate with the grand finals on November 5 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
