CD Projekt Red to Remake The Witcher

The future of The Witcher is here.

Who is Fool's Theory, the studio behind The Witcher Remake? | GamesRadar+

With the rise of The Witcher's popularity over the last several years, it's no surprise that developer CD Projekt Red will want to continue the legacy going. This comes in the form of the reveal that Polish studio Fool's Gold will be behind the development of a remake of the original The Witcher game. This is great news considering that the team is comprised of many CD Projekt Red veterans who were a part of the original project. The Witcher remake is set to be developed using Unreal Engine 5, also adding to the excitement. This was the project that was originally codenamed Canis Majoris when the developers announced the future of their projects.

“The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD PROJEKT RED. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how much gamers have been looking forward to seeing the remake happen, and they know how to make incredible and ambitious games. And although it will take some time before we’re ready to share more about and from the game, I know it’ll be worth the wait.”

As of right now, there is no release window for the project. The only real news besides the announcement itself is that the parent company will be supervising the entire project. Hopefully, we will hear more information as the year progresses.
