Virtus.pro Announce More Dota 2 Roster Changes

Poor results lead to another roster change
by Tit Krajnik on March 07, 2023

On Tuesday, March 7, Virtus.pro announced the benching of Alexandr "krylat" Krylatov and in-game leader Andrey "Dukalis" Kuropatkin. The Dota 2 roster changes follow a poor showing at DPC EEU 2023 Tour 1: Division I, where VP placed fourth and didn't qualify for Lima Major.

Just three months after Virtus.pro restructured its Dota 2 roster, the Russian esports organization is set to make additional changes to its lineup. As announced on Tuesday, VP have benched carry krylat and in-game leader Dukalis, who will no longer compete under VP's banner.

The roster changes come after a slow start to the year for the Russian squad. Virtus.pro kicked off the 2023 season with a shaky showing at DPC EEU 2023 Tour 1: Division I, which they finished in fourth place with a 4-3 record, thus missing out on qualifying for Lima Major.

Shortly after, Virtus.pro also attended BetBoom Universe: Episode I - Comics Zone, where they got off to a strong start and won their first three series, only to lose against Gaimin Gladiators and Alliance, finishing the tournament in seventh-eighth place.

In a bid to find more success, VP decided to cut ties with krylat, who joined the team in December 2022 as a replacement for Kamil "Koma`" Biktimirov, who got banned by PGL and Valve due to account sharing, and Dukalis, who joined VP at the start of December from Alliance.

"I want to make things clear by saying that there were no internal conflicts or insurmountable disagreements within the team," said Head of Dota 2 department in Virtus.pro, Alexander "StrangeR" Solomonov.

"The decision to move Alexandr and Andrey out of the active roster is dictated by the recently emerged opportunity of inviting new players, capable of making our team better in both short- and long-term perspective. It was a tough decision but a necessary one."

Virtus.pro have yet to reveal who will fill in the gaps, but the organization has noted that it is ready to consider "different options" for the two benched players, who will be allowed to play for other teams so as not to deprive them of the opportunity to continue competing.
