Team Secret Release Zayac And Resolut1on

Team Secret wave goodbye to two key players
by Tit Krajnik on March 07, 2023

On Tuesday, March 7, Team Secret parted ways with Baqyt “Zayac” Emiljanov and Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok. The shocking roster change comes following Team Secret’s abysmal showing in the first Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Tour, which saw the European Dota 2 squad eliminated from the upper division.

Known as two of the best Dota 2 players in the world, Zayac and Resolut1on are no longer part of Team Secret, as the European esports organization announced on Tuesday. They joined The squad in July and August 2022 and proved themselves as vital members of the squad.

After struggling in the first half of the year, Team Secret found serious traction with Zayac and Resolut1on who were key members in Secret’s resurgence. With the duo, Team Secret finished top four at Riyadh Masters 2022, claimed a bronze medal from ESL One Malaysia 2022, and made it through The International 2022: Last Chance Qualifier after finishing Western Europe Qualifier in second place.

Then, at The International 2022, Team Secret reached the grand finals, where they had to admit defeat to Tundra Esports. Yet despite the bittersweet ending to the season, Team Secret, with the help of Zayac and Resolut1on, showed immense improvement and an awe-aspiring resurgence after finishing all three Western European DPC Tours in fifth place.

Yet, the team’s strong form didn’t translate into the new season, as Secret failed to show much in DPC WEU 2023 Tour 1: Division I. Struggling to perform at the needed level, Team Secret finished the first DPC tour of the season in eighth place, leading to elimination from the upper division.

The team’s in-game leader, Clement “Puppey” Ivanov, released a statement about the departure of Zayac and Resolut1on, showing gratitude to two players who helped Team Secret turn their 2022 season around. However, the poor results left Secret with no other option than to go for drastic roster changes in hopes of bouncing back in 2023.

Much of Team Secret’s lack of success this season can be attributed to the departure of Michal “Nisha” Jankowski, who left to play with Team Liquid. But knowing that Nisha’s return is highly unlikely, it will be interesting to see who Team Secret will bring in as replacements.
