Virtus.pro Skins Return To Rainbow Six Siege

It's been a while, but Virtus.pro in-game skins are back in Rainbow Six Siege
by Tit Krajnik on March 14, 2023

Due to sanctions imposed on Virtus.pro by Ubisoft last year amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian squad had to compete under a different banner. But after a year of playing as "Outsiders", Ubisoft allowed Virtus.pro name to return to the scene and introduced new Virtus.pro Rainbow Six Siege in-game skins.

With the return of Virtus.pro to the competitive Rainbow Six Siege, the organization's skins are also back in the in-game shop. There are currently two bundles and one skin in the game, which are a part of the R6 Share program, where the players can buy their favorite team's skins and support the R6S esports scene. The three available weapon skins include:

  • Virtus.pro 2020 – M590A1
  • Virtus.pro 2021 – Kali's sniper
  • Virtus.pro 2022 - P10 Roni

Ubisoft, Valve, and many tournament organizers sanctioned Virtus.pro in February 2022 because the organization was owned by ESforce Holding, which was owned by VK, the largest Russian social medial site whose CEO had been sanctioned by the United States and the European Union. As a result, all of Virtus.pro's esports teams had to play under the Outsiders banner throughout the 2022 season.

In September, Virtus.pro announced that the organization was taken over by Armenian citizen Aram Karamanukyan, who bought the trademark and asset, becoming the new CEO. This move was initially met with some questions, with many believing that it was a potential loophole for VP to escape sanctions.

However, both Valve and Ubisoft lifted the sanctions and allowed the return of Virtus.pro name. Interestingly, in December, former CEO of ESforce holdings, Nikolai Petrossian, was announced as CEO of VIrtus.pro, which effectively saw him assume his old role.

And despite the strange change of ownership, which returned Virtus.pro back into ESforce Holdings' hands, Ubisoft allowed VP to start using its sold name in Rainbow Six Siege esports in the first stage of Europe League 2023.VP already played their first match of the season against G2 Esports on Tuesday, March 14, when they won 8-6.
