Cloud9 Reportedly Looking To Sign Two Valorant Rookies

Following the departure of two key players, Cloud9 look to fill up the void with two young stars
by Tit Krajnik on March 15, 2023

This month, Cloud9 parted ways with Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker and Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, who left a big void in the North American Valorant roster. However, according to recent reports, Cloud9 has already found replacements in two young stars Jake "jakee" Anderson and Dylan "runi" Cade.

Cloud9 are set to complete its Valorant roster rebuild, which started on March 1 with the departure of yay. Just over a week later, Cloud9 also lost its in-game leader vanity, who decided to leave the team after 17 months with the organization.

Left without two players, Cloud9 had to start looking for replacements, and the squad has supposedly found them in two young rising stars, runi and jakee. The duo is set to join the team in the coming days and round up Cloud9's new Valorant roster for the Americas League.

Jakee is a fairly inexperienced player, who made his first appearance in a professional Valorant tournament in December 2021, when he attended NSG: Winter Championship - Open 9 with Team Reckaroo. He has been competing in the collegiate scene since the start of 2023 but has never appeared in the top echelons of competitive Valorant after falling short of qualifying for Valorant Challengers with his former team.

His new teammate, runi, had previously played for Susquehanna Soniqs, who he joined in April 2022 and left in January 2023. Throughout his stint with the team, runi has placed fourth at  NSG: Summer Championship and has collected a couple of solid tournament placements in some lesser events. However, like jakee, he fell short of qualifying for Challengers with a third-place finish at VALORANT Challengers 2023: North America Split 1 - Last Chance Qualifier.

By signing for Cloud9, jakee and runi will make their first foray into the top level of Valorant esports; however, this won't come without any pressure. The duo will have to fill in the shoes of one of the best Valorant players of 2022 and C9's former in-game leader, who helped Cloud9 cement itself as one of the top teams in the region.

The duo have yet to be officially announced, but we can expect Cloud9 to unveil the new signings in the next few days, which will give the team a bit over two weeks to prepare for their first match in VCT: Americas League, set to kick off on April 1.
