Diablo 4 Is Getting A Larger Storage Space

Now we can hoard more items
by Tit Krajnik on July 08, 2023

As revealed by Diablo 4 developers on Saturday, July 8, Diablo 4 is set to receive an upgrade to the storage space. The increased storage space comes as a response to the continuous complaints from the players who were struggling with full bags despite being able to hold 233 items.

Since its launch, Diablo 4 has been getting several updates and patches, primarily intended for fixing bugs but also for introducing quality-of-life changes. And according to a recent announcement, Diablo 4 will soon get another long-awaited change.

As confirmed during a Diablo Developer Update, Diablo 4 is getting a larger storage space, which has been a hot topic of discussion recently. Many players have been complaining about running out of space to collect items, even though the game's storage space is relatively large.

A player can hold up to 33 items in their inventory and 50 in the Stash. The storage space is further expandable to four tabs, increasing the total storage space to 233. Yet even that has proven too little due to the massive number of item drops in Diablo 4.

To address the issue, Diablo 4 developers announced that the players would get more storage space soon; however, it might take some time for the team to figure out how to achieve that. So even though it would make sense for an expanded storage space to go live with Season 1, this won't be the case.

General manager Rod Fergusson explained that changes like this need time to be implemented as there is also an experiment period to ensure the changes work as intended.

Until we get a storage space expansion, we'll have to stay smart with how we stash our items, but this becomes tricky due to the gems taking up a whole slot. And even though they're stackable, this doesn't fix the issue. Luckily, this will be addressed.

In June, Diablo 4 developers revealed that gems will become crafting materials, so they will no longer take up a regular slot but rather be placed in a material tab. This will relieve some of the problems, but there's definitely more work to be done before players stop experiencing storage space shortages.
