Players Are Not Happy With EA FC 24

Another Year, Another Disappointment
by Tit Krajnik on October 09, 2023

EA Sports FC 24 was released at the end of September, which by now gave the players enough time to test out the latest instalment of EA's soccer simulation and give their opinions on it. Unfortunately, the overall consensus on EA FC 24 is that the game is not good.

Less than two weeks after its release, EA FC 24 is branded by many players as an absolute failure, many leaving negative reviews on Steam and other platforms. The game was released with some glitches and bugs, which, unfortunately, became a standard with most latest games; however, while minor bugs can be annoying, EA Sports FC 24 has much bigger problems.

Many believed that EA would take the release of EA FC 24 as an opportunity for a new start, to create something new and take the game in a different direction. But most importantly, EA FC 24 gave EA a chance to restore the trust of its fanbase, which was left largely disappointed with FIFA 2023, which had its flaws and also struggled to maintain positive ratings at launch and throughout its lifecycle.

Yet it seems like EA failed to do so. EA FC 24 launched with multiple bugs and glitches, which have yet to be fixed or addressed, leading to a massive backlash from the community, who started expressing their dissatisfaction with the game and EA.

The biggest issue seems to be errors in the FC 24 Ultimate team, which has detrimental effects on the game's most popular mode – FC 24 Clubs. The fans didn't stay quiet and shared their anger on Reddit, Steam, and other platforms, calling out EA and its failure to produce a working game.

The issue becomes more infuriating, knowing that this is the first year without the FIFA branding, which presumably left EA with a lot more money to spend on the development of the game. Yet EA released a game with UI and menu glitches, errors that made the game freeze, Clubs drop-in matches not working as intended, Ultimate Team objectives not working, the FUT champs trainer being broken, and more.

Another thing that keeps coming up in the negative reviews is the packs in the FUT Store, which essentially create a pay-to-win experience. Even though players can unlock everything by playing the game, fans seem to agree that EA made it significantly harder to accomplish anything without opening your wallet, forcing those who want to be competitive to spend cash on FUT packs to obtain high-rated players.

Unfortunately, EA FC 24 is the only soccer game on the market that the fans have at their disposal. Years ago, players could pick between FIFA and Konami's PES, but the latter is nowhere near the level it needs to be to compete with EA's games. Besides the two, there are no other options.

FIFA president Giovanni Infantino had stated that FIFA titles would return; however, FIFA has yet to find a developer to work with, meaning we'll have to wait for a bit longer before we get any new soccer sims.
