Leaked Launch Date of New Elden Ring Game

Why wasn't the game's release announced at The Game Awards?
by Natalie Collazo on December 15, 2023

A retailer leak, reportedly from an official Bandai Namco partner, suggests that Elden Ring's long-awaited Shadow of the Erdtree expansion could be hitting screens as soon as February 2024.

Despite a lack of official confirmation or marketing from Bandai Namco, details of a collaboration between the publisher and peripheral manufacturer Thrustmaster surfaced on Reddit.

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Potentially Set for February 2024

Unexpected Leak Hints at an Early Release

The leak includes promotional material indicating a February 2024 release date for limited edition controllers, aligning with the speculated launch of the new Elden Ring DLC. While the timeframe seems ambitious, fans are hopeful for a surprise release in line with the expansion's unconventional announcement.

Additionally, Thrustmaster's leak reveals controllers themed around Malenia and Ranni, slated for a potential 2025 Elden Ring major update or expansion, adding another layer of excitement for the game's dedicated community.

Why Wasn't the DLC Revealed at The Game Awards?

If the game's release really is meant for February, then why wasn't it announced during the most recent The Game Awards? It's possible that Bandai Namco and FromSoftware will be announcing the game in another way. However, there has been no proof that points to that. Elden Ring was the game of year for many players in 2022. Directed by the famed Hidetaka Miyazaki in partnership with George R.R. Martin, it is a spectacle from start to finish.

Shadow of the Erdtree was announced just this last February via a Twitter/X post from the official page.
