S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Gets Delayed To September 2024

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl gets hit with another delay – but perhaps it’s the last one
by Tit Krajnik on January 16, 2024

According to the official announcement on Tuesday, January 16, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl was delayed again. However, this time, the announcement came with a firm, final release date set for September 2024.

The heavily-anticipated sequel was initially expected to be released in Q1 2024. In fact, new images of the game only recently appeared on the Epic Store, further suggesting that GSC Game World would stick with the expected release date.

However, as it was announced on Tuesday, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl won't be released until later this year, more precisely, not until September.

When Does Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Release?

According to the blog post, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on September 5, 2024, delaying the initially expected release date for a few months. The developers explained that there are still many technical imperfections in the game that need to be ironed out before Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be ready to launch.

So, like the last time, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been delayed for the sake of polishing the game and getting it ready to release without issues. Still, pushing the game to Q4 might suggest that the developers have found serious technical issues with the game.

Yet, despite another delay, the fans seem to be happy with GSC Game World's decision and support the developer's goal to achieve a smooth launch. And considering the high standard which was set for the open world FPS title, the fans understand the game deserves all the time it needs.

The decision to delay Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl launch came following the beta, which likely helped the developers identify issues with the game they have to address.

Unfortunately, this is not the first delay Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has experienced. The game's production was already hit with a couple of setbacks, including a fire that affected the studio and a cyberattack in March 2023.

It's unclear whether Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl might get delayed again, but with the release date set for September, the developers will likely have enough time to polish the game and get it ready. And unlike the previous delays, this one came with an official release date – September 5, 2024.
