World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery Devs Promise More Details on Phase 2

Players won’t go into WoW: SoD Phase 2 blind
by Tit Krajnik on January 22, 2024

World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery Phase 2 is just around the corner. Set to release on February 8, 2024, it promises to introduce a new raid, more runes, and a new PvP zone; however, the details about the second phase remain very scarce. This will change soon.

In a Twitter post, World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery lead engineer Nora Valletta stated that the player will soon get a sneak peek into what SoD Phase 2 will bring, including more details about the new Gnomeregan raid, battleground matchmaking news and the Stranglethorn Vale PvP event.

What Will WoW: SoD Phase 2 Bring?

World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery Phase 2 was already confirmed to release on February 8, 2024, however, only a few of its features have been confirmed.

As revealed by Blizzard, Gnomeregan will be added as a 10-man raid, replacing Blackfathom Deeps as the main end-game PvE content. In addition, Stranglethorn Vale will transform into a PvP zone, replacing Ashenvale.

Lastly, the level cap will be increased to level 40, and there will be new runes to explore. However, besides that, not much is known about the second phase of Season of Discovery.

Players have been asking for battleground matchmaking changes that would improve the current situation, where solo queueing often leads players to meet premade groups, leaving them with little to no chance of claiming the victory. Although Blizzard has not confirmed whether any rules will be added to prevent that, Nora Valletta promised battleground matchmaking news, which might touch on the problem.

Unfortunately, a lot is left up to speculation, as there are no concrete news of new runes or any new systems added to the game. Still, as confirmed by Nora Valletta, more news about SoD Phase 2 will be available soon.
