Mortal Kombat 1 Confirms Takeda Release Date, Delays New Kameo Fighter

Release of Ferra gets delayed
by Tit Krajnik on June 18, 2024

Mortal Kombat 1 developer NetherRealm Studios announced a delay of the next Kameo fighter, Ferra. With the delay, Ferra will be launching with the game’s final DLC character, Takeda, in July.

Since its release in September 2023, Mortal Kombat has provided players with numerous free updates and DLCs, offering a steady flow of new content over the nine months. Recently, Mortal Kombat introduced the final guest character, Homelander, from The Boys TV show, and more new characters are set to enter the game soon.

Unfortunately, there is some bad news about the upcoming character.

When do Ferra and Takeda Release in Mortal Kombat 1?

NertherRealm Studios has recently announced some disappointing news, confirming that Ferra won’t be entering the Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo roster for a while longer. As stated, the developers need more time to work on Ferra before making her a playable character to ensure “she can assist to the best of her abilities.”

The wait, however, won’t be that long. As confirmed, Ferra will be released on July 23 alongside Takeda. The latter will be Mortal Kombat 1’s final DLC character from Pack 1, with her release officially marking the end of the first year of planned DLCs for the game.

Even though Takeda’s release will mark the end of Pack 1, there are expectations of the second Pack – like how it was the case in previous Mortal Kombat games.

While not officially confirmed, the community continues to speculate about what new fighters will enter the arena. Some supposed leaks provided by data miners hint at Scream’s Ghostface joining the roster.

This, while purely speculative, would make a ton of sense, as Mortal Kombat 1 has previously featured guests from other horror movies, including Friday the 13th and Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Much of Mortal Kombat 1’s future remains a mystery, but according to Ed Boon, MK1 will get a story DLC and a big surprise after – so there is plenty to look forward to.
