Copenhagen Flames Sign Farlig To Replace Regali

Copenhagen Flames announce roster changes after the team failed to qualify for BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR
by Tit Krajnik on March 13, 2023

Danish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team Copenhagen Flames announced the signing of Asger “Farlig” Jensen on Monday, March 13. The 23-year-old joins the team as a replacement for Iulian “regali” Harjau, who has been placed on the transfer list.

The roster changes come after Copenhagen Flames failed to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMRs, finishing European RMR Qualifier A in a disappointing 15th-16th place. The new addition, Farlig, joins Copenhagen Flames as a free agent, having been without a team since his stint with Astralis.

Farlig’s one-year campaign with the Danish CS:GO team started in February 2022 and ended in October, when he got benched due to poor results. Farlig has averaged a 0.99 performance rating during his stint but struggled to find consistency in his showings.

Moreover, with Farlig, Astralis failed to find any success outside of a runner-up finish in the Pinnacle Cup Championship, a top-four finish at Intel Extreme Masters Cologne, and Roobet Cup. Eventually, Farlig got replaced by Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, who returned to Astralis from Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Despite his underwhelming stint with Astralis, Farlig got picked up by Copenhagen Flames, who needed to make some roster changes due to a lack of achievements this season. Following the complete roster revamp a few months back, Copenhagen Flames initially found some success and won a few tournaments; however, it all came crashing down with an abysmal run in the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR qualifiers.

Interestingly, Copenhagen Flames decided to part ways with regali, the best-performing player on the roster, with a 1.20 average performance rating. However, as stated by Copenhagen Flames, the team felt this change was needed to reach the team’s goals and potential.

“It should be obvious to all that regali possesses some unique qualities. As far as his raw skill and mechanical abilities are concerned, he already belongs to the absolute world elite,” said the Head of Esports at Copenhagen Flames, Phillip Karsbol.

“At the same time, we also have to recognize that in some ways the fit isn’t perfect for how we want to play and the direction of the team.”

Farlig already played his debut match for Copenhagen Flames on Monday when his team lost against Aurora (0-2) in BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic. However, despite the loss, Farlig was the highest-rated player on his team with a 1.24 rating, dwarfing CPH’s second-highest-rated player, Rasmus “raalz” Steensborg, at 0.96.
