PlayStation Confirms Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid Remakes for 2024

The year starts off strong with news about two beloved games!
by Natalie Collazo on January 04, 2024

It's official, Konami will be releasing their remakes of Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 this year. The information was confirmed in a video that PlayStation released highlighting all of their 2024 releases. In a barrage of clips that included Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, we saw our old friends, Snake and James Sunderland.

Konami Reveals Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 Remakes Release Window

Silent Hill 2 retains the same name as before while Metal Gear Solid 3 will receive a new one: Metal Gear Solid Delta. The game's release will mark the 20th anniversary of when the original was released on the PlayStation 2.

Silent Hill 2 is being developed by Bloober Team. They're the dark minds behind titles like The Medium and Layers of Fear. Ideally, they aim to preserve the original game's dark atmosphere for a modern audience. Konami is developing Metal Gear Solid Delta, as they have most of the other games in the series. They too plan to faithfully recreate the story while providing a modern user experience and better visuals.

As opposed to Metal Gear Solid Delta, Silent Hill 2 will be a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive with a PC version to be released at a later time. The latter will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Two Classic Games Come to Life Again

Both Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid are long-beloved franchises. These two specific titles are among the two most beloved in their respective series. Considering that the time for game remakes is now, it seems like a perfect opportunity to get the ball rolling on these projects. It's exciting to see that they'll be coming sooner than initially expected.
