What a time to be alive.
by Natalie Collazo on May 17, 2024

We don't know anything about the Call of Duty game that's meant to be released this year. However, the rumors and questions about it as well as its launch have been making the rounds all year. Now, we are getting word that not only will it be announced soon, but it's going to launch on Game Pass as well.

Call of Duty 2024 Officially Announced for Game Pass Launch

Call of Duty Might Launch on Game Pass

If you aren't aware, Microsoft made one of the biggest financial decisions in gaming by purchasing Call of Duty developer Activision Blizzard last year. Since then, there have been conversations about how the franchise's releases will be handled in the future. These conversations seem to have naturally pivoted to the following release also being available to Microsoft's increasingly popular subscription service.

The news comes from our friends at The Wall Street Journal where they discuss that this announcement might be coming during the developer's showcase on June 9. Traditionally, the Call of Duty games are sold at full price, with a collector's and special edition usually available for those who want to receive more items/ early access.

Now, the idea that some players will be able to access the game without paying upwards of $70 seems like a slap in the face to some players. This topic of conversation is usually paired with the idea that the game will be exclusive to the streaming platform, but Microsoft has promised that this wouldn't be the case. Honestly, this is an incredibly exciting development in the future of how popular games are released.
